KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): Citi has announced the appointment of Ng Hooi Wan as head of markets for Malaysia, effective December 2024.

In a statement on Monday, Citi said Ng will report directly to Citi's head of markets for Asia South cluster Sue Lee and country officer and banking head for Malaysia Vikram Singh.

Ng has over 24 years of experience in the banking and financial landscape in Malaysia. She was formerly from JPMorgan where she led local markets and private side sales. She joined their Malaysia office at the end of 2011.

Ng started her banking career in the corporate banking team at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and later held roles at Southern Bank Bhd. In 2006, she joined Standard Chartered Bank where she was responsible for local corporate sales in global markets and syndication in debt capital markets.

Vikram said in the statement that Malaysia is a key market for Citi globally and added that the country is at the forefront of investments as it continues to benefit from supply chain shifts.

“I am confident under Ng’s leadership Citi’s growth momentum will continue,” he said.

Lee added that Ng will lead the markets business in Malaysia with a client-centric approach, leveraging the bank’s global footprint and solution structuring capabilities.

Citi’s markets business serves corporates, institutional investors, and governments from trading floors in almost 80 countries. These services include underwriting, sales, trading and distribution across asset classes such as commodities, equities, rates, spread products, and foreign exchange, ensuring clients’ needs are met with unmatched expertise and resources.
