KUALA LUMPUR (March 30): Established by Sardinian-born entrepreneur Renzo Frau in 1912, luxury Italian furniture maker Poltrona Frau is the definition of a heritage brand. Through its use of the finest materials and painstaking craftsmanship, the 113-year-old company is a mainstay in the high-end interior décor industry, celebrated for its opulent and distinctly European look. 

In January, it unveiled its first-ever monobrand store in Malaysia, right in the heart of Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. To mark the momentous occasion, we sat down with its chief executive officer Nicola Coropulis at the opening event and took a moment to talk about his long-term tenure at Poltrona Frau, favourite pieces, and the future of furniture development. 

A sequel to French jeweller Fred’s Inner Light line, the maison’s Ideal Light high jewellery collection evokes the sights and scenes of the founder’s birthplace in Argentina. Following their Asia debut in Shanghai last October, the jewels arrived in Seoul for a glamorous gala mid-March, attended by the likes of Jin of megagroup BTS’, as well as the nation’s top acting chops Cha Seungwon and Lee Sungkyung. We narrate on what went down at the glamorous evening held at Josun Palace, Gangnam. 

Seeing is believing, and Aw Tai Hau and Eden Hoong of Pott Glasses have seen plenty after a decade in the optometry business. Shaped by the pair’s desire to introduce local consumers to stylish pieces designed specifically to complement Asian features, the label currently operates eight outlets and counting across the country. As glasses come into fashion, the visionary duo are on a mission to inspire lasting confidence in wearers.
