KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 20): Deloitte Malaysia has signed an agreement with MRT Corporation, securing the naming rights to the TTDI MRT station.

The station naming rights programme is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia where it provides opportunities for corporations or brands to bid for the right to transform a station to reflect the brand’s corporate identity and name the station after themselves.

In a statement on Tuesday, Deloitte said that from Jan 1, 2024, the TTDI-Deloitte MRT station will be part of the Kajang line on the MRT network, utilised by more than 220,000 daily riders.

It said the TTDI MRT station serves as an essential nexus for the TTDI community — connecting people and businesses across the Klang Valley to TTDI. The station also conveniently serves Deloitte employees who commute to work via the MRT.

Deloitte Malaysia chief executive officer (CEO) Yee Wing Peng said the inclusion of Deloitte’s brand on a TTDI landmark will boost morale and instill a sense of pride to work in the area.

“We recognise the importance of this MRT station to our people and to the community, and we are constantly looking for ways to give back.

“Through this partnership, we want to play our part in contributing to a more efficient transportation system by providing an additional revenue stream to be utilised for current projects, maintenance, and future expansions,” said Yee.

Meanwhile, MRT Corp CEO Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim said the public transportation system is a cornerstone of the national infrastructure.

“It connects communities, facilitates economic growth, and promotes sustainability.

“However, maintaining and improving this vast network requires substantial resources.

“The station naming rights programme is one of the channels for us to secure the necessary funding for the upkeep and maintenance of our stations,” he said.

Mohd Zarif said income generated from the Station Naming Rights Programme is not just a corporate investment; it is a contribution to the betterment of the nation's infrastructure.
