SHAH ALAM (April 3): The decision on temporary housing for residents affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, will be finalised by Monday at the latest, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the decision would be made after discussions with Petronas and the Implementation Coordination Unit.
"I think temporary relief centres are suitable to house the victims for the first two weeks. We will improve it from time to time.
"Depending on tomorrow's discussions with Petronas, the victims may be relocated to other accommodations. Many options are available; for example, Airbnb is offering homes for victims whose houses suffered a total loss, allowing them to stay for a few months," he said at a press conference on Thursday.
He said the State Disaster Management Committee found that 87 houses were destroyed and deemed uninhabitable following Tuesday's inferno.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the state government has also received a vehicle donation offer from a used car dealership, Carsome, for victims, which the office of State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han will handle.
He said the state government would activate the Tabung Prihatin Negeri for those who wish to donate and mobilise the Selangor Volunteer (SERVE) unit.
"We have also instructed KDEB Waste Management to carry out cleanup work in the affected areas," he added.
