KUALA LUMPUR (June 21): Coworking and flex space provider WORQ said its launch of WORQ Express at Alunan Resort in Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu, signifies its first step in countrywide expansion to provide workspaces and meeting facilities everywhere, including cities, suburbs and remote digital nomad hubs.

According to a media statement issued by WORQ on June 19, WORQ Express at Alunan Resort is its first outlet outside of central Malaysia. Collaborating with Alunan Perhentian Sdn Bhd, the outlet provides an occupancy of two rooms, a meeting room and a hot desk area that operates 24/7. Guests are given easy accessibility to space on-demand, with unique access code generated upon booking through the WORQ’s system.

WORQ’s co-founder and chief executive officer Stephanie Ping said the launch of WORQ Express at Alunan Resort signifies the company’s foray into reutilising and unlocking the potential value of spaces across various property types. “This is just the beginning, as we have ambitious plans to roll out WORQ Express across Malaysia, empowering individuals to work flexibly and efficiently everywhere. We are excited about the possibilities and the positive impact this will have on the way people work.”

She added that WORQ has maintained profitability even during the challenging pandemic period with six new outlets since its inception in 2017. WORQ is steadily progressing with its expansion strategy, and is on track to double its total space under management to 200,000 sq ft by the end of 2023.

WORQ also has ambitious plans to extend the convenience and flexibility of WORQ Express to multiple locations across Malaysia. With a strategic focus on untapped markets, WORQ aims to establish WORQ Express in high-traffic areas such as shopping malls, train stations and airports, providing professionals with accessible and flexible workspace options.

Meanwhile, Alunan Resort co-founder Sany Ismail added that: “We are proud to collaborate with WORQ in establishing the first and only self-service coworking space on an island. We strongly believe in the concept of a work + meaningful holiday experience and our collaboration with WORQ takes it to the next level.”
