KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has urged the public to not respond to a fraudulent survey which uses the company’s name, offering participants money in exchange for answering a questionnaire.

In a notice on its website, the national oil company said it had been made aware of a scam website post offering a “new year gift” in the form of monetary compensation for answering the survey.

“We wish to inform that neither Petronas nor any of our subsidiaries within the group of companies are involved in this ‘survey’, and we appeal to the public not to respond or take part,” it added.

Fraudsters have been using Petronas’ name for scamming schemes, including survey scams, damage compensation scams, online investment scams and job recruitment scams.
