KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): Integrated optical care player Focus Point Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Suriani Ahmad as its new non-independent and non-executive chairman on Friday (July 22). 

Suriani, 54, is currently the Secretary General in the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, a position she has been holding since 2020. She also holds a directorship in Perbadanan Nasional Bhd.

Prior to this, she has worked in various other ministries including the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia; the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development; Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI).

Suriani graduated with a Masters of Art in Strategy and Diplomacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Communication from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

Focus Point’s share price closed unchanged on Friday at 71.5 sen, valuing the group at RM234.29 million.
