KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should air any dissatisfaction within the party and not openly as it could lead to the opposition taking advantage, said an Umno Supreme Council member.
Airing criticism in the open would not “help the party”, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said yesterday.
Muhyiddin, who was sacked from Cabinet as deputy prime minister, on Saturday criticised Putrajaya’s handling of state investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd
He also hit out at Umno leaders for their reluctance to speak up on the issue during a question- and-answer session at a hotel in Johor Baru.
“My humble request to him is that whatever differences, we bring it within the party,” said Tajuddin, who is also the agriculture and agro-based deputy minister.
“The enemies are out there, and they are seeing this. That is not good,” he added.
Muhyiddin was axed from the Cabinet due to his open criticism of Putrajaya’s handling of 1MDB. He remains Umno deputy president.
Tajuddin refused to say if disciplinary action should be taken against Muhyiddin.
“There are many ways of taking action. A reminder is also a form of action,” he said. — The Malaysian Insider
