KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): Fit-out or refurbishment specialist EGH International Bhd (KL:ECOGRP) is focusing on its expansion into Sarawak and Sabah, while eyeing contracts from the US and Vietnam.

Group managing director Datuk Weslie Lim Yuk Ming said that Sarawak in particular is a strong potential market.

“There are many old buildings which are undervalued or not being properly utilised. As a fit-out or refurbishment specialist, we believe we can contribute to growing Sarawak’s economy,” he said during a press conference following EGH International’s ACE Market debut on Friday.

EGH International is an integrated interior fit-out solutions provider that delivers turnkey commercial interior projects, manufactures custom furniture, and supplies premium building materials across Malaysia and regional markets.

He added that he is confident in EGH International’s Sarawakian partner, Karuna Venture Holdings Sdn Bhd, as it has helped open doors to penetrate the Sarawakian market.

EGH International’s subsidiary, ECO Group Holdings Sdn Bhd, signed a memorandum of understanding with Karuna on Oct 15 to explore projects in Sarawak.

EGH International is an interior fit-out services company that turns empty interiors into fully functional commercial or residential spaces.

“We have already visited quite a number of potential projects and building sites, and we are already working on the feasibility of how we can repurpose these buildings. And all of these are in quite good strategic locations,” Lim said.

While he could not share details during the press conference, he said that the company will be able to make an announcement in the near future.

Beyond Sarawak, EGH International is also looking into Sabah, with a potential project at a shopping mall there, as well as entertaining inquiries for projects from the US and Vietnam.
