BUTTERWORTH (AUG 28): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said investigations and legal proceedings involving former human resources minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan should be left to the relevant authorities.
He said matters under investigation or prosecution fall under the jurisdiction of agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC).
“Once it reaches that stage, it is no longer my concern. I will leave it to the MACC or AGC to examine,” he told reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Sembilang.
Anwar was responding to questions about a letter Saravanan had sent him regarding his case.
Saravanan had said the letter was not intended to seek Anwar’s intervention or have the case dropped, but to explain his position.
Earlier on Friday, the Tapah MP pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to three corruption charges involving RM1.097 million linked to foreign worker quota approvals.
