In 2019, the government, through special purpose vehicle Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd (UJSB), paid Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) RM16.87 billion for shares held in 106 listed companies. The share transfer was at a premium of RM9.38 billion over the then market value of RM7.49 billion. The RM16.87 billion was essentially what TH paid for the shares.
