KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 18): Four shareholders have withdrawn their requisitions to remove four directors of Destini Bhd (KL:DESTINI) at an extraordinary general meeting on Friday (Aug 21).

The withdrawal came after the four board members whom the shareholders sought to remove resigned. They are former executive chairman Datuk Abd Aziz Sheikh Fadzir, who is also the single largest shareholder, executive director Ismail Mustaffa, and non-executive directors Datuk Bahudin Mansor and Norashikin Mat Yusof.

In a bourse filing on Tuesday, the engineering and defence services provider said it received a letter from the requisitionists — LINC Shared Services Sdn Bhd, Veritas Aman Sdn Bhd, WP Travel Sdn Bhd and Azulite Bloom Sdn Bhd — on Aug 17, withdrawing the requisition notice. The four shareholders collectively hold a 10.15% stake in Destini.

Bahudin and Norashikin resigned on Aug 13, citing personal commitments, while Abd Aziz and Ismail stepped down effective Aug 15.

Abd Aziz remains Destini’s largest shareholder holding an 11% stake.

Besides seeking the removal of the four directors, the four shareholders had proposed the appointment of Datuk Mua’Amar Ghadafi Jamal Jamaludin as a director and Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Razlan Ibni Syed Putra as the non-executive chairman.

Mua’Amar Ghadafi is currently the Umno deputy chief of the Parit Buntar division, while Syed Razlan is the younger brother of Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.

Both Mua’Amar Ghadafi and Syed Razlan joined Destini’s board on Aug 14. As part of the board changes, Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar also returned as an executive director and the group managing director.

Destini shares were unchanged at 26.5 sen at the time of writing on Tuesday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM145.5 million.
