KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): Parliament will convene a special sitting on Aug 11 to debate the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Lembaga Tabung Haji, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has agreed to the additional session, Anwar told reporters after officiating Malayan Banking Bhd’s (KL:MAYBANK) new headquarters at Menara Merdeka Maybank. The special sitting will start at 10am and continue until the afternoon, he said.
The commission was established to investigate the management and financial affairs of the pilgrims' fund board between 2014 and 2020. A report was released on Wednesday after receiving Cabinet approval.

Tabung Haji affairs are deeply significant to the nearly 10 million Muslim depositors that rely on the fund for their pilgrimage.
The entire report was made public to allow Malaysians to understand what had happened at the institution, Anwar said.
The findings showed that Tabung Haji had nearly collapsed because of negligence, weak financial management, greed and failures in governance despite its long-standing reputation as one of the country's most respected institutions, he said.
Amwar also lamented that Tabung Haji’s founding principles of integrity, trust and prudent financial management had been undermined by poor stewardship, making it necessary for the government to disclose the commission's findings in full.
