KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): Zetrix AI Bhd (KL:ZETRIX) has signed a preliminary agreement with the Philippine government to develop the country's public blockchain infrastructure, marking a major expansion of its blockchain footprint in Southeast Asia.
It said the memorandum of understanding was signed between three entities: its subsidiary Zetrix Philippines Inc, My Blockchain Infrastructure Sdn Bhd — a Zetrix AI joint venture with Malaysia's National Research and Development Agency Mimos Bhd — and the Department of Information and Communications Technology of the Philippines.
Under the collaboration, the parties will develop blockchain applications to enable cross-border interoperability between the national digital ID systems of Malaysia and the Philippines, as well as for the issuance, verification and authentication of Philippine government-issued credentials and trade facilitation.
The Zetrix protocol currently serves as the foundational chain of Malaysia's Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), launched in April 2025. Zetrix AI also operates the international supernode to China's Xinghuo Blockchain Infrastructure and Facility to facilitate cross-border digital verification and trade services.
With the latest MOU, the Philippines will become the second country to adopt the Zetrix protocol for its national blockchain infrastructure.
Zetrix AI group managing director TS Wong said the partnership is another step towards the company's vision of building an integrated blockchain ecosystem across the region.
"This milestone marks another important step forward in the realisation of our vision of bringing countries in the region onto a common integrated ecosystem, thus playing our part in helping advance economic growth through stronger regional cooperation," he said.
Zetrix AI has been operating in the Philippines for nearly a decade, providing digital government services to agencies including the Bureau of Internal Revenue, National Bureau of Investigation, Securities and Exchange Commission, Philippine Ports Authority and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
Shares of Zetrix AI closed down half a sen or 0.66% at 75.5 sen on Tuesday. This gave the group, formerly known as MyEG Services Bhd, a market capitalisation of RM6.08 billion.
