KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 1): Malaysia’s largest mobile network operator CelcomDigi Bhd (KL:CDB) has secured spectrum access for 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), effective Nov 30, 2025.
The 1800MHz assignment runs until June 30, 2032, while the 2600MHz runs until June 30, 2027.
In a statement on Monday, the company said it paid RM292.5 million upfront for both bands and will make annual payments totalling RM120 million over the assignment periods.
The company said the new spectrum will strengthen its network and improve customers’ experience. It also shows CelcomDigi’s commitment to investing in infrastructure to meet Malaysia’s growing connectivity and digital needs.
Analysts are cautious about CelcomDigi, with more than twice as many ‘hold’ ratings as ‘buy’ ratings, and three ‘sell’ ratings, according to Bloomberg data. The average 12-month target price is RM4.03.
The stock closed 1.52% higher at RM3.33 a share at Monday's noon break, valuing the company at RM39.1 billion. The stock is down 8% this year.
