KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 31): NexG Bhd’s (KL:NEXG) former executive deputy chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman has upped his stake in the company at a premium, formerly known as Datasonic Group Bhd, by 4.31%.

Mohd Khairul Adib, who stepped down from his board post earlier this month, saw his stake in the group rise to 16.96% after his vehicle, Skyelimit Alliance Sdn Bhd, acquired an additional 4.31% or 150.34 million shares on Friday via a direct business transaction, according to a bourse filing.

The consideration was not disclosed in the filing, but Bloomberg off-market data showed a 150.34 million block of NexG shares was transacted on Friday at 40 sen, or a total RM60.14 million

At Friday’s closing price of 38 sen, the 40 sen per share price tag was a 5.3% premium.

Skyelimit’s 12.086% stake in NexG makes up the bulk of Mohd Khairul Adib's equity interest in the company, while the remainder is via Kuantum Juang Sdn Bhd.

Checks with the Companies Commission Malaysia showed that Skyelimit is wholly owned by Mohd Khairul Adib, while Kuantum Juang is 99.9% held by RHB Trustees Bhd.

Mohd Khairul Adib is now NexG's largest shareholder.

The group’s other substantial shareholder is executive chairman and group chief executive officer Datuk Abu Hanifah Noordin, who controls a 13.89% stake.

Mohd Khairul Adib stepped down as the group’s executive deputy chairman on Oct 14 to pursue other interests.

He was appointed an independent non-executive director in November 2024 and was later redesignated as executive deputy chairman on March 28, 2025.

He previously served as Public Service Department director general from October 2019 to January 2022.

Shares in NexG ended unchanged at 38 sen, valuing the group at RM1.39 billion.
