KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 25): Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador’s lawyers sent a letter to former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, demanding he apologise and take down a video where Rafizi said he met a whistleblower exposing Farhash’s business dealings, all within 48 hours.
The demand is about a video Rafizi posted on Aug 20, 2025. Farhash’s lawyers say Rafizi made false claims that damaged their client’s reputation, attracted unwanted attention, and wrongly suggested he was linked to the syringe attack on Rafizi’s son on Aug 13, 2025.
In the video, Rafizi said some people tried to link the investigation of the attack on his son to former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin to distract from the real issue. He also said his meeting with the whistleblower before the attack was about Farhash’s business dealings.
The ‘cease and desist’ letter, dated Aug 22, demands that Rafizi:
- Stop sharing the video or any similar false content immediately.
- Remove the video from Facebook, Rafizi’s website, and all other platforms.
- Post a clear public apology and retraction on all of Rafizi's social media within 48 hours.
Rafizi in a statement acknowledged that he received the letter demanding an apology. He said that the statements he made are fact and that he is prepared to defend them in court.
"I have referred this matter to my lawyer, Razlan Hadri Zulkifli of Messrs Gan, Ho & Razlan Hadri, for further action.
“I believe that if Datuk Wira Farhash proceeds to file a lawsuit in court, it will become a matter of public interest and give my lawyers the opportunity to raise questions that have long been asked by various parties,” he said.
On Aug 13, Rafizi’s 12-year-old son was stabbed with a syringe in an attack by two unknown individuals at a mall in Putrajaya. Rafizi had called it a planned attack to silence him after he met with a whistleblower on business dealings he was investigating, the week before. Rafizi's wife received threatening texts the day after the attack.
