KUALA LUMPUR (March 21): CelcomDigi Bhd (KL:CDB) on Friday announced the appointment of Jon Omund Revhaug as its deputy chairman and non-independent non-executive director, with immediate effect.
He replaces fellow Norwegian Haakon Bruaset Kjoel, who is leaving CelcomDigi's board following his resignation from Telenor Asia Pte Ltd and Group.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, CelcomDig said Revhaug, 58, is a representative of Telenor Malaysia Investments Pte Ltd, a major shareholder of CelcomDigi.
Since June 2024, he has been serving as an executive vice-president and head of Telenor Nordics, the filing noted.
Revhaug holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Biology as well as a master’s degree in Management from BI Norwegian Business School.
In a separate statement, Telenor announced the appointment of Revhaug as the head of Telenor Asia. It said Revhaug has 24 years of experience with Teleno, and more than 15 years of experience in Asia.
"I am excited and looking forward to returning to Asia to lead our operations in a dynamic region. The next few years will be pivotal as we execute on our strategy of scale and building leading telco operators in Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh. I am eager to reunite with exceptional colleagues in Asia to continue the journey of being a good owner of telco assets, creating a positive impact and value for all stakeholders," Revhaug said in the statement.
CelcomDigi said Revhaug will abstain from deliberating and voting on any transaction between Telenor Malaysia Investments and CelcomDigi to ensure transparency and avoid any conflict of interest.
CelcomDigi’s shares closed 11 sen or 3.20% lower at RM3.33 on Friday, valuing the group at RM39.07 billion.
