KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 26): Digital Communications Minister Gobind Singh Deo has called for stronger collaboration between industry players and the government in tackling cyber security threats.
No single entity can address the cyber security challenges that the country faces today, as the threats are complex, multifaceted and evolve at a pace that demands collective action, Gobind said during the signing ceremony of collaboration agreement between CyberSecurity Malaysia and MyORI Services.
CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Digital Communications, is partnering with MyORI Services to enhance the cyber security posture of businesses and institutions through the MyORI SmartSecure platform.
"This partnership is an example of that synergy — where CyberSecurity Malaysia’s technical expertise in product security testing and certifications are being used to evaluate MyORI Services’ technology in secure product labelling, and supply chain management," Gobind said.
He added that the partnership would enable the MyORI SmartSecure platform to achieve the necessary cyber security certification, facilitating its adoption across government ministries and agencies. "This not only ensures a secure digital platform, but also builds a culture of trust and accountability in the marketplace," he added.
Collaboration to validate and promote MyORI SmartSecure platform
The collaboration will see MyORI Services independently validate and certify the platform under the Malaysian Common Criteria (MyCC) scheme, which provides a framework for assessing the security of IT products.
CyberSecurity Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Dr Amiruddin Abdul Wahab emphasised that the initiative would drive MyCC adoption, introduce the platform to government agencies and engage with industry stakeholders.
Under the agreement, CyberSecurity Malaysia will also provide official recognition and mentorship to MyORI Services while promoting the MyORI SmartSecure platform in government and commercial markets.
Founded in 2017, MyORI Services is a provider of high-security product labelling solutions, including its encrypted NFC label technology, which integrates with blockchain to ensure product authenticity.
“The collaboration would bring together the expertise of CyberSecurity Malaysia and the innovation of the MyORI SmartSecure platform to bring positive change to various sectors of the economy and administration that are hurting from the lack of standardised and secure product labelling,” MyORI Services chief executive officer Ling Ken Ji said during the launch ceremony here.
“Our platform offers solutions to counter counterfeit products across industries while modernising legacy marks such as tax stamps, compliance labels, and geographical indication marks,” Ling added.
