KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 18): The Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma) is allocating RM3 billion starting in 2025 to strengthen the local workforce and its adaptability in response to rapid technological advancements and changing industry demands, said its minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.
Sim said on Monday that the allocation will be channelled through a range of support measures, including levies, credits, scholarships and matching grants.
“In 2025, Kesuma will have a RM3 billion fund that will be used through various agencies, such as the Manpower Department (JTM) — which manages 33 TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institutes in the country — HRD Corp (Human Resource Development Corp), TalentCorp and Perkeso (Social Security Organisation),” Sim said in a press conference after the launch of the impact study of artificial intelligence (AI), digital and the green economy on the Malaysian workforce by TalentCorp.
Meanwhile, incentives for in-demand courses, such as scholarships for critical skills, are also under consideration, he said.
“These will be made available through the MyMahir platform, and the upcoming Akademi Kesuma to be introduced next year,” noted Sim.
According to Sim, the newly launched MyMahir platform — developed by TalentCorp — will serve as a valuable resource for government agencies, businesses, students and individuals alike.
The platform will act as a reference point for designing policies and strategies related to labour, training, and other workforce development initiatives, he added.
