KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Datuk Shahul Hameed Dawood has stepped down as Human Resources Development Corp’s (HRD Corp) chief executive after five years at its helm, confirming a report by The Edge Malaysia weekly.
In a Facebook post, HRD Corp said Shahul is taking his "final bow" as chief executive effective Tuesday.
Meanwhile, there is no mention of the reason behind Shahul's departure or who will be replacing him.
He was appointed to the top job at HRD Corp in April 2020.
HRD Corp is expected to issue an official statement on Shahul's departure later today.
Earlier this month, The Edge Malaysia reported that Shahul was leaving HRD Corp, which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Human Resources.
HRD Corp is responsible for collecting levies from 800,000 employers for staff training and upskilling purposes.
Shahul and HRD Corp were thrust into the spotlight in July last year, following findings from the Public Accounts Committee and the Auditor General’s Report 2024 that exposed alleged irregularities that happened before 2022 at the agency.
Current Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, who was appointed in December 2023, also ordered a report to be lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission immediately after the allegations surfaced.
