KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 6): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has announced that its managing director (MD) and group chief executive officer (group CEO) Datuk Seri Iskandar Mizal Mahmood will be stepping down from his role upon the expiration of his two-year contract on Oct 24.

This confirms The Edge’s report in June this year.

Iskandar, 57, first took up the position of MD and group CEO in October 2021.

Earlier, The Edge reported speculation on the changing of guard in MAHB, as Iskandar’s contract was about to expire in October this year.

Since 2014, MAHB has had four CEOs, namely Datuk Mohd Badlisham Ghazali, Raja Azmi Nazuddin, Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh and the soon-to-step-down Iskandar Mizal.

“Throughout his two-year tenure, he spearheaded several transformation streams which contributed significantly to the group’s growth, resulting in the group’s firm trajectory towards financial recovery from the impact of the global pandemic.

The board would like to thank Datuk Seri Iskandar for his exemplary service and leadership throughout his tenure with Malaysia Airports,” it said in a statement on Friday.

Meanwhile, the airport operator announced that it has appointed its group chief financial officer (group CFO) Mohamed Rastam Shahrom as its acting group CEO, effective Oct 25.

Mohamed Rastam joined MAHB on Jan 1, 2020 as the group CFO, MAHB added.

Shares in MAHB closed nine sen or 1.23% lower to RM7.20 on Friday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM12.01 billion.
