KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 8): Sunview Group Bhd said two of its subsidiaries have been selected to be solar power producers under the Corporate Green Power Programme, (CGPP), with a combined allocated export capacity of nearly 60 megawatts (MW).

In a filing to the stock exchange, the renewable energy player said Solarcity REIT Sdn Bhd and Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd were among the 22 entities selected from a pool of 71 applicants in a competitive bidding exercise conducted by the Energy Commission.

Solarcity REIT was allocated an export capacity of 29.99MW, which is the maximum quantum assigned to a solar power producer. Fabulous Sunview, through a consortium with JAKS Solar Power Sdn Bhd and Ann Joo Green Energy Sdn Bhd, was also allocated 29.99MW.

The Sunview subsidiaries, together with other selected solar power producers, are required to submit an application to a single buyer for participation in the New Enhanced Dispatch Arrangement programme as part of the next step in the process within three months.

The 22 successful applicants were allocated a combined export capacity of 563.42MW. The remaining 236.58MW of the total allocation quota of 800MW has yet to be assigned.

Sunview chief executive officer cum executive director Ong Hang Ping said that with the 236.58MW still up for tender, the group is optimistic of securing more projects under the CGPP initiative, which is expected to drive the upcoming adoption of renewable energy.

“Given our position in the renewable energy space, we see ample opportunities ahead where we will be able to replicate our success by leveraging on our experience and proven track record in engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning and related activities,” Ong said in a statement.

Sunview’s shares closed one sen or 1.06% lower at 93 sen on Tuesday (Aug 8), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM435.34 million. Sunview has appreciated 72.22% from 54 sen since early this year.
