KUALA LUMPUR (July 6): Infrastructure utilities services provider MN Holdings said that its unit Mutu Nusantara Sdn Bhd had accepted a letter of award (LOA) from Rentak Segar Sdn Bhd to act as a sub-contractor for works on an AirTrunk data centre in Johor worth RM11.2 million.

The LOA, dated June 20, 2023, is set to commence immediately and is targeted for completion by November this year, said the group in a statement on Thursday (July 6) to the bourse.

As sub-contractor, MN Holdings will undertake the installation, testing and commissioning of 33 kilovolts (KV) of aluminium cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and 132 KV copper XLPE single core underground cables and accessories from the transmission main intake (PMU) of Gelang Patah to the data centre.

Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) hyperscale date centre specialist AirTrunk had on January 19, 2023 announced its entry into Malaysia with plans to develop a 150+ megawatt date centre.

Named Air Trunk JHB 1, the facility will be its first in Malaysia and ninth in APJ, bringing its data centre platform to over 1.35 gigawatts of capacity.

“The award is a significant win for the company as this is MN Holdings' fourth construction and engineering contract for data centre,” said MN Holdings executive director Datuk Toh Eng Keat.

Earlier this year, MN Holdings unit Mutu Nusantara had secured three contracts from Rentak Segar amounting to RM46.6 million.

“Inclusive of the latest contract win, MN Holdings has successfully increased its order book to approximately RM327.8 million, providing a strong earnings visibility to the group for the next two years,” Toh added.

At midday, shares of MN Holdings stood one sen or 3.57% higher at 29 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM116.42 million.
