KUALA LUMPUR (June 19): The government will continue to partner automotive players to make significant investments to drive the local automotive sector towards new energy and smart mobility.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) Chang Lih Kang said that the efforts are in line with the National Energy Policy 2022-2040, which aims to reshape the Malaysian technological landscape to be more efficient and sustainable over the coming decades.
“At Mosti, we value new developments in the field of science, technology and innovation in Malaysia.
“As most of us are aware, the automotive landscape is now going through a paradigm shift towards mass electrification,” Chang said in his keynote address at the Proton Holdings Bhd’s Digital Xperience (Proton DX) centre launch here on Monday (June 19).
Meanwhile, Chang said that the centre is a big step forward in fostering greater interest and awareness among the general population towards the latest innovations in the automotive industry.
“Proton DX has the potential to engage with the rakyat in a manner that offers plenty of educational value.
“More than just a recreational centre, it is also well-equipped to serve as a platform for STEM (Science, Technology, Education & Mathematics) education for young Malaysians through various activities and engagements,” he noted.
Proton DX centre is a collaboration between ACO Tech Sdn Bhd — a company within the Proton Group that is also jointly owned by Altel Communications Sdn Bhd, and China-based ECARX Co Ltd.
Located at Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur, the centre caters for car and technology enthusiasts of all ages to gather and be immersed in the latest innovations in the automotive industry.
“The concept of Proton DX is very well aligned with this transformation, and I hope this will inspire more Malaysian companies in tech-driven industries to come up with similar initiatives to encourage more Malaysians to adopt a digital way of life,” Chang added.
