KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 11): The World Bank Group office in Malaysia has practical and symbolic importance as the country has been transformed from being an international aid recipient to one of Southeast Asia’s leading economies, The South China Morning Post reports.

The office in Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur, will be an operational hub where Malaysia’s development experiences will be shared with developing countries around the world.

It will also give Malaysia access to international knowledge and expertise to help it transition to an advanced, high-income economy.

Sasana Kijang was established by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in 2011 as a centre of knowledge and learning excellence.

According to BNM, Sasana Kijang is also home to South East Asian Central Banks (Seacen) Research and Training Centre, Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), and Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).
