KUALA LUMPUR (March 21): Malaysia will demonstrate its leadership in sustainable and innovative plastics at K 2025, the world’s premier trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, taking place from Oct 8 to 15, 2025, in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Taking place every three years, K 2025 would emphasise sustainability, digitalisation and circular economy initiatives, in line with its “The Power of Plastics! Green, Smart, Responsible” motto.
“With growing global demand for eco-friendly solutions, Malaysia’s participation will reinforce its position as a key player in the industry’s transformation,” said Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) in a statement on Friday.
The national trade promotion agency, under the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti), will lead the participation of 12 local companies under the Malaysia Pavilion.
This marks Matrade’s sixth participation at K 2025, which is expected to host over 3,000 exhibitors and more than 225,000 visitors across the globe, including key industry leaders, decision-makers, and industry innovators.
Malaysian companies would showcase sustainable and innovative products such as engineering plastic compounds, palm stearin bio-resins, conventional thermoplastics, smart biodegradable plastics and green rubber products.
“Malaysia’s presence at K 2025 reflects our growing expertise in sustainable plastics, circular economy practices and digital innovations.
“With Europe’s increasing focus on green solutions, this platform will strengthen our global trade ties and drive new business opportunities,” said Matrade deputy chief executive officer (export acceleration) Abu Bakar Yusof.
Malaysia’s trade with the European Union (EU) grew by 5.4% to RM218.85 billion in 2024, with exports of rubber products surging 30.2% to RM3.82 billion and manufactured plastics rising 38.4% to RM1.21 billion.
“The participation in K 2025 aims to further expand these figures, leveraging Malaysia’s innovation and sustainability strengths,” he said.
Matrade advocates that K 2025 provides an ideal avenue for Malaysian exporters to showcase their capabilities, align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, and explore new market opportunities.
The agency invites Malaysian companies keen on expanding into the German and European markets to join the Malaysia Pavilion at K 2025.
