KUALA LUMPUR (April 25): Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd group managing director Datuk Seri Mohamed Hassan Md Kamil has been redesignated as group chief executive officer (CEO).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Takaful Malaysia said the board approved for Mohamed Hassan to be redesignated as the group CEO at the group's annual general meeting today.
Mohamed Hassan, 54, was appointed to the board on Sept 1, 2006 as a non-independent, non-executive director of the company.
He has been the group managing director of Takaful Malaysia since April 1, 2007. He is also the chairman of the board of commissioners of PT Syarikat Takaful Indonesia and PT Asuransi Takaful Keluarga.
He worked in the U.S. as an actuary from 1987 to 1994, prior to returning to Malaysia as deputy general manager at Malaysia National Insurance. In 1996, he joined ING Insurance Bhd as senior vice-president and chief actuary. In 2004, he became the deputy general manager of PT AIA Indonesia.
Takaful Malaysia shares closed up 2 sen or 0.5% at RM4.01 today, with 78,700 shares traded, bringing it to a market capitalisation of RM3.3 billion.
