KUALA LUMPUR (April 2): Go Shop, a 24-hour online shopping platform, expects another strong year ahead, after registering an 11% increase in revenue to RM290 million last year.

This was largely underpinned by a 38% growth in customer base to 1.3 million as at Jan 31, 2018.

In a statement today, Astro GS Shop chief executive officer Dr Grace Lee attributed Go Shop's steady growth last year to more customers shopping across its television (TV), online and mobile platforms as a result of aggressive marketing campaigns on digital and social platforms, as well as leveraging the group’s assets.

She said 35.3% of Go Shop's total sales were generated through mobile and online platforms.

"We also saw the monthly active users of our mobile app increase by 32% quarter-on-quarter," she added.

To increase its reach, Go Shop added a third TV channel on Astro targeting the growing and affluent Malay community, as well as introduced new and innovative segments on Astro-branded channels including Astro Oasis and Astro Ria.

In addition, Go Shop also developed more localised Chinese content for its Chinese community in Hokkien for Astro Hua Hee Dai and Cantonese for Astro Wah Lai Toi, among others.

"Go Shop celebrity branded live demo shows such as Go Pak Nil and Mei Yan Show also helped to deepen its engagement with customers," said Lee.

Go Shop also continued to expand its reach and presence in Singapore by forging new partnerships across several platforms including Mediacorp and thus, giving it access to its 4.2 million audience.

Currently, Go Shop has over 500 brands with 8,000 products from various merchants and brand owners listed on its platform.

"For the past 12 months, Go Shop has been steadily increasing its product offerings which include healthy food and beauty and fashion. While we continue to grow our range of products, the quality and assortment is key as we only want the best for our customers," said Lee.

Go Shop is operated by Astro GS Shop Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd and South Korea's GS Home Shopping Inc.
