KUALA LUMPUR (July 20): Sapura Resources Bhd's independent director Ahmad Jauhari Yahaya has been redesignated as its new chairman effective July 20.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Wednesday (July 20), the group said Jauhari, 68, would be replacing Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Hamid Bugo, who has helmed the group since April 2016 and has been redesignated as non-independent and non-executive director.

Formerly Malaysian Airlines System Bhd chief executive officer, Jauhari was appointed to Sapura Resources board in January 2016.

The group also announced that non-independent director Datuk Muthanna Abdullah will be retiring from the position effective Wednesday (July 20).

Shares in Sapura Resources closed unchanged at 25 sen, valuing the company at RM34.9 million.
