MELAKA (Nov 6): Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) on Friday launched a joint manifesto for the 16th Melaka state election.
State BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh said the manifesto, themed "Membina Masa Depan Melaka, Memakmurkan Negara", outlines 113 initiatives focusing on the cost of living, income, housing and the future of families.
He said the economic initiatives include a target to attract up to RM30 billion in investments, particularly in new development areas and high-tech industries.
"We are also offering one-off financial assistance to children from B40 families in Melaka to pursue technical and vocational education and training (TVET) certification programmes, while aiming to establish the state as a national TVET hub.
"We are also committed to providing free water for domestic consumption below 20,000 cubic metres a month, no increase in quit rent for five years and offering business funding assistance to small traders," he said at the launch of the manifesto in Ayer Keroh here on Friday.
Also present were Umno vice-president and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and PN secretary general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
Ab Rauf, who is also Melaka chief minister, said BN had fulfilled up to 97% of the pledges made in its manifesto for the 15th Melaka state election in 2021.
A total of 28 state seats are up for grabs in the election, with BN contesting 23 seats and PN the remaining five.
The Election Commission has set Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for polling.
