PUTRAJAYA (Nov 6): The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has granted conditional approval for the Hyrox Kuala Lumpur 2026 event, scheduled for Dec 10 to 13.
Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said the conditional approval, issued under Section 33 of the Sports Development Act 1997, was subject to full compliance with the Safe Sport Code and all requirements stipulated by the Office of the Sports Commissioner.
“The organisers of Hyrox Kuala Lumpur 2026 have agreed to observe all the requirements under Clause 5.2 of the Safe Sport Code.
“The ministry will oversee compliance with the stipulated conditions throughout the event and wishes all participants the best of luck,” he said in a statement Friday.
Dr Mohammed Taufiq said such mass fitness events were worth continuing to encourage more Malaysians to lead active and healthy lives.
He previously warned that the ministry would withhold approval for the event unless all sponsorship from alcoholic beverage companies were withdrawn.
A screenshot recently circulated widely on social media showed an alcoholic beverage company named as the “Official Beer Partner” for the international fitness event, which will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec).
