KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 6): Semiconductor assembly and test services provider Unisem (M) Bhd (KL:UNISEM) saw its net profit jump 59% in the third quarter, thanks to higher sales volume and other operating income.
Net profit for the three months ended Sept 30, 2026 (3QFY2026) increased to RM30.73 million from RM19.38 million a year earlier, while revenue rose 23% to RM607.66 million from RM492.74 million amid higher sales volume.
Other operating income climbed 55% to RM13.74 million, according to the group's bourse filing on Friday.
Gross profit grew 38% year-on-year to RM62.18 million, while gross margin rose to 10.23% from 9.12%.
Unisem declared a first interim single-tier dividend of one sen per share for FY2026, payable on Dec 8.
For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2026 (9MFY2026), Unisem's net profit declined 21% to RM27.28 million from RM34.52 million a year earlier, despite an 18% increase in revenue to RM1.64 billion from RM1.39 billion.
The group attributed the lower nine-month earnings to foreign exchange movements and higher operating costs, despite improved sales performance.
Unisem provides semiconductor assembly and testing services, including the packaging and testing of integrated circuit chips for electronics companies.
Looking ahead, the group expects its performance for the remaining financial year to be supported by a continued recovery in customer demand and improved utilisation of installed capacity across its operations.
Unisem’s shares came under pressure recently amid a global sell-off in technology and semiconductor stocks, following a sharp overnight decline on Wall Street. At Friday’s noon break, the counter had fallen 24 sen or 6.12% to RM3.68, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM6.31 billion.
