KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): Ni Hsin Group Bhd (KL:NIHSIN) has teamed up with Chinese firm Horwin International Inc to manufacture electric motorcycles for exclusive distribution in Malaysia and Türkiye.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ni Hsin said its wholly-owned subsidiary Ni Hsin EV Tech Sdn Bhd (NHEVT) signed the deal with Horwin at the EIMCA Global electric vehicle trade show in Milan, Italy.

Under the agreement, Horwin will supply the chassis for two electric motorcycle models, the SK3 and SK3 PLUS, on a completely knocked-down (CKD) basis, while NHEVT will assemble the motorcycles at its manufacturing facility in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

The assembly process will incorporate 50% locally sourced components, allowing the finished motorcycles to be classified as "Malaysian Made" and qualify for export to Türkiye under the Malaysia-Türkiye Free Trade Agreement, said Ni Hsin

The first batch of electric motorcycles under the partnership is expected to roll out in early 2027.

Ni Hsin said the partnership would leverage Ni Hsin’s established distribution network in Malaysia and Horwin’s strong market presence in Türkiye to facilitate a market rollout and after-sales support.

Horwin is headquartered in China and has a sales network spanning more than 50 countries across four continents, with research and development centres in Europe, Asia and North America.

Ni Hsin’s share price closed down 6.5 sen or 20% to 26 sen on Wednesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM163 million. The stock, which was hovering around one sen at the beginning of the year, climbed to as high as 50.5 sen on Oct 27.
