KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): Sunway Construction Group Bhd (KL:SUNCON) has secured RM920.8 million worth of additional mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works for an ongoing data centre development in Johor.

The additional works were awarded by an unnamed US-headquartered multinational technology corporation to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, according to a Bursa Malaysia filing on Wednesday.

The letter of award also serves as instruction to commence works, which are targeted for completion by the first quarter of 2028.

Sunway Construction said the additional works are expected to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026 onwards, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Including the latest award, Sunway Construction has secured RM8.06 billion worth of new orders so far this year, bringing its total outstanding order book to RM11.7 billion.

Sunway Construction’s net profit for the second quarter ended June 30,2026 rose 23.5% to RM103.59 million from RM83.89 million a year earlier, driven by improved profit margins across its operating segments.

Revenue, however, declined 31.1% to RM1.02 billion from RM1.48 billion, mainly due to lower construction revenue.

Sunway Construction shares closed down four sen or 0.52% to RM7.68 on Wednesday, valuing the group at RM10.2 billion.
