PUTRAJAYA (Oct 30): The Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) is not limited to the 13 members of Parliament who have signed it, but is also open to any MP who wishes to hold discussions and enter into the agreement, said Madani government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

He said the signing of the CSA between the government, Bersatu and independent MPs was discussed at Friday's Cabinet meeting, describing it as a positive development for political stability.

"This is a positive development for the country's political stability and reflects a spirit of togetherness in implementing several institutional reform initiatives.

"The signing of an MOU (memorandum of understanding) or CSA is not limited to these 13 MPs, but is open to any MP who wishes to come forward, hold discussions and sign the CSA. Therefore, the door for discussions remains open," the communications minister told a press conference after the Cabinet meeting here.

On the mechanism for the CSA, Fahmi said the government viewed a joint assessment approach, similar to the one implemented under the 2021-2022 CSA, as one of the methods that could be considered.

"If we look at the mechanism developed during the 2021-2022 CSA, there was indeed a joint assessment by both parties to verify that the agreed commitments had been fulfilled.

"So we see that as one possible way of implementing it, similar to what we witnessed previously," he said.

Fahmi said the government intended to implement all matters agreed upon under the CSA, including key aspects involving institutional reforms.

"We hope that, with the strong support received, we will be able to implement these commitments," he said.

On Thursday, the government signed the CSA with six Bersatu MPs led by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as seven others, including Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said on Thursday that the CSA served as an important foundation for strengthening the country's political stability.

Anwar said the agreement was aimed at ensuring continuity in government administration while allowing the country's development agenda, including Budget 2027, to be implemented effectively for the benefit of the people.
