KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 30): Malaysian companies are encouraged to explore collaboration opportunities in China's high-value technology sectors, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), the digital economy and green technology, in line with the country's development priorities for 2026 to 2030.

Malaysian Embassy in Beijing Minister Counsellor (Trade) and Matrade Trade Commissioner Niqman Rafaee M Sahar said the opportunities included strategic sourcing, expertise sharing and technology transfer to support the enhancement of Malaysia's industrial capabilities.

He said China's 15th Five-Year Plan offered Malaysian companies opportunities to explore cooperation in technology development, industrial innovation and the commercialisation of research findings.

“These priorities also include the application of technology in industrial sectors and efforts to boost productivity through digitalisation, alongside the transition towards green development,” he said in a statement issued in Beijing.

Niqman was speaking after receiving a courtesy call from VFive Group Sdn Bhd deputy chief executive officer Ts Amir Junaidi Amerrudin at the Matrade office in Beijing on Friday.

He said Matrade continued to help Malaysian companies enter the Chinese market through export promotion, business matching, trade networking and advisory services on export requirements and compliance.

“This support enables companies to identify potential business partners, understand market requirements and broaden their access to buyers and distribution networks in the country.

“We also encourage Malaysian companies to explore China's second-, third- and fourth-tier cities, in addition to major markets such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

“This could help diversify export markets and open up business opportunities in emerging industrial and technology sectors,” he said.

Meanwhile, VFive Group founder and managing director Datuk Syafiq Abdullah said the company was exploring partnerships with Chinese technology players in digital healthcare, AI systems, smart agricultural machinery and modern construction technology.

He said the initiative focused on practical technology solutions tailored to the needs of Malaysian industries, while taking into account implementation costs and local operating requirements.

“In the agricultural sector, the use of smart machinery and AI-based technology has the potential to improve operational efficiency through automation, data-driven crop monitoring and more precise use of agricultural inputs.

“We are also identifying opportunities for expertise sharing, technology transfer and the adaptation of technological solutions to support industrial development in Malaysia,” he said.
