KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 28): Bursa Malaysia Bhd (KL:BURSA) reported on Wednesday that its earnings grew nearly 10% in the third quarter from a year earlier, thanks to higher trading activities.

Net profit for the three months ended Sept 30, 2026 (3QFY2026) was RM70.21 million, or 8.70 sen per share, according to an exchange filing. Revenue for the quarter rose 20% year-on-year to RM216.42 million.

“The exchange remains well-positioned to deliver its 2026 headline key performance indicators” supported by a healthy initial public offerings pipeline and ongoing market development initiatives, Bursa said.

The exchange operator is targeting return on equity of 27%-30% and for non-trading revenue to grow at least 10%. Bursa Malaysia is also seeking to host IPOs worth RM34 billion this year.

By the end of September, the exchange hosted 47 listings that contributed RM28.7 billion in market capitalisation. The share sales collectively raised RM6.1 billion, the most in Southeast Asia. Year-to-date, return on equity was 37% while non-trading revenue expanded 19%.

“Domestic fundamentals remain supportive of capital raising and investment activity,” said chief executive officer Datuk Fad'l Mohamed. “At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty and tighter global financial conditions mean investors are becoming more discerning about where they allocate capital.”

For the first nine months, net profit totalled RM214.8 million, a 13.5% increase when compared to the same period in 2025. Revenue rose nearly 20% year-on-year to RM641.5 million.

Securities, which accounted for nearly 70% of the top line, grew 26% during the period driven by a rise in listing fees and higher average daily trading volumes. Derivatives also improved on the back of increased trading volume in crude palm oil futures and improved hedging activity.

No dividend was declared so far.
