The sale of the 33.44% stake is worth as much as US$200 million, Woodside said Tuesday in a statement, although most of that is dependent on the project being built. The small nation has long pushed for the development of the two fields that make up Greater Sunrise and a LNG plant in a bid to tap potentially billions of dollars of revenue.
Timor Gap will now control the entire project, after last month agreeing to buy out a third shareholder, Osaka Gas Corp. An independent assessment from 2018 estimated the development cost at US$15.6 billion.
