SHAH ALAM (Oct 24): The country’s insurance and takaful industry continues to increase efforts to promote financial inclusion through the launch of MyCoverageOKU, a digital platform that provides easier access to information for persons with disabilities (PwD).
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said MyCoverageOKU is a microsite developed through a collaboration between BNM, the Financial Education Network and industry players to help PwD access information about insurance and takaful products more easily.
“MyCoverageOKU brings together information on protection options relevant to PwD. The microsite serves as a central reference point for them, their family members and caregivers to explore products and contact the relevant insurance and takaful providers.
“Eligibility and coverage benefits remain subject to the respective terms and conditions,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Selangor Financial Literacy Carnival 2026 here on Saturday.
Abdul Rasheed said a consumer-centric approach should guide the design of financial services, adding that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to facilitate information delivery, detect unusual activities and provide timely reminders.
“However, technology should not replace consumers’ own judgment. Instead, it should help consumers understand the implications of each choice, protect personal data and ensure that support remains available,” he said.
Developed in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, MyCoverageOKU features various accessibility functions, including adjustable text sizes, high-contrast display settings and simplified navigation to provide a user-friendly digital experience, particularly for individuals with different accessibility needs.
Through the Insurance and Takaful Product List available on the platform, users can explore various coverage options, understand product benefits and check eligibility requirements, enabling them to make more informed decisions based on their individual needs and circumstances.
