KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 23): Malaysian navigation app TuJu has apologised to users for recent technical disruptions and expects to restore stable navigation services within two weeks.
In a statement on Friday, Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd, which manages the app, acknowledged the inconvenience caused by problems affecting its navigation functions over the past few days.
The company said its priority was to restore smooth and stable navigation, while other features on the app remained operational. It added that updates on the recovery process would be shared through TuJu’s official channels.
Prosignal also thanked users for their feedback, saying reports from the public were important in identifying technical issues and implementing fixes. It reiterated its commitment to data security and protecting Malaysians’ personal information.
The disruption followed a surge in demand after the government banned civil servants from using Waze with immediate effect on Tuesday, citing concerns over the potential misuse of government information and personal data by the Israeli regime.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also urged Malaysians to switch from Waze to local alternatives such as TuJu, citing assurances over data security and personal data protection.
However, the sudden influx of users led to technical, functional and usability problems for the app.
TuJu had recorded more than 700,000 downloads as of Thursday.
