KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 22): Educational institutions under the Selangor, Melaka and Pahang State Education Departments (JPN) will operate as usual on Friday (Oct 23), but all outdoor activities will be suspended due to the haze.
In Selangor, the JPN said in a statement that pupils attending school were encouraged to wear face masks.
It said school administrators should also monitor Air Pollutant Index (API) readings closely and pay particular attention to pupils at higher risk.
In Melaka, the JPN said parents or guardians who were concerned about their children’s health could keep them home from school, provided they informed the school authorities.
Parents, guardians and school personnel were also advised to refer to the official communication channels of the Melaka JPN or their respective schools for accurate and up-to-date information.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, the JPN said all schools in the Bentong district would operate as usual from tomorrow, but all outdoor activities would be suspended until further notice.
The department also encouraged all school personnel in Bentong to wear face masks, while schools in other districts would continue to operate as usual.
