KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): Westports Holdings Bhd (KL:WPRTS) reported a record-high revenue from tariff increases and higher income from value-added services, boosting its earnings in the third quarter.
Net profit for the three months ended Sept 30, 2026 (3QFY2026) was RM342.56 million compared with RM271.11 million in the same quarter a year earlier, according to an exchange filing. Revenue for the quarter surged 42% year-on-year to RM1.07 billion.
Westports now expects the "overall container throughput to be at least the same as the previous year."
The tone of the statement suggests better outlook than in July when Westports had guided for volume to be handled to just be “roughly the same as the previous year."
However, the company warned of fast-evolving conditions that could affect its prospects.
For the first nine months, Westports' net profit totalled RM1.03 billion, a 42% increase from the same period last year, while revenue climbed 37% year-on-year to RM2.83 billion.
Westports flagged rising global interest rates as inflationary pressures intensified following renewed increases in energy prices.
“Nevertheless, consumption propensity has remained resilient despite such headwinds, as technology-related investments have supported economic development and growth optimism,” it said.
Meanwhile, dredging and land reclamation works for its container terminal expansion project covering CT10 to CT17, which began in 2025, would take about four years to complete.
The first terminal, CT10, is expected to be ready by 2028, Westports noted.
Westports did not recommend any dividend for the latest quarter.
