KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 19): Trading in the shares of ink manufacturer Toyo Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:TOYOVEN) will be suspended until 5pm on Monday (Oct 19), pending the release of a material announcement.
Toyo Ventures said Bursa Malaysia Securities had approved the company’s request for trading suspension, according to the group’s bourse filing.
Toyo Ventures has been without a managing director since February 2026. Chew Cheong Loong was with the board of Toyo Ventures from March 2019.
His departure came as Toyo Ventures, which also manufactures electrical discharge machining brass wires, grapples with the aftermath of the termination of the Song Hau 2 thermal power plant project in Vietnam, previously a cornerstone of its ambitious plan to build and operate coal-fired power plant.
The group recorded a net loss of RM436,000 in the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (1QFY2026), versus a net profit of RM9.66 million a year ago, despite revenue rising 28.8% to RM22.24 million from RM17.27 million.
The weaker quarter earnings were mainly due to the absence of a one-off gain of RM2.09 million from the disposal of assets held for sale and an unrealised foreign exchange loss of RM1.01 million, compared to an unrealised foreign exchange gain of RM8.30 million recorded a year earlier.
Excluding these non-operating items, the group recorded a normalised pre-tax profit of RM849,000, compared to a normalised pre-tax loss of RM648,000 previously, it noted.
The revenue growth was driven by higher machine sales, supported by improved sales from its ink and automotive refinish products divisions.
The company’s cash and cash equivalents stood at RM68.6 million as at end-June, while it had total borrowings of RM11.02 million.
Yvonne Po Leng Lam remains the company’s largest shareholder with a 0.09% direct and 12.088% indirect interest via Eng Lian Enterprise Sdn Bhd. Toyo Ventures’ non-independent non-executive director Ng Jing-Yi, 37, serves as the managing director of Eng Lian Enterprise.
Toyo Ventures’ shares last traded at 24 sen on Monday morning before the suspension, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM39.8 million.
The stock had rebounded 37% from this year's low of 17.5 sen in March this year, but remained 9.4% below its closing price at the start of the year.
