KOTA BHARU (Oct 16): Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu stated that the party has been allocated eight state legislative assembly (DUN) seats to contest in the Melaka state election (PRN).

Mohamad, who is also the minister of agriculture and food security, said the seat distribution is the result of discussions at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) level, but the final decision will only be finalised by the PH Presidential Council.

"As of now, at the PH level, we have been allocated eight seats, but we have not yet finalised our contesting model. We will finalise the matter in the Presidential Council and announce it on Oct 24," he told reporters after attending the 2026 Kelantan state-level Amanah convention here on Friday.

Mohamad said the actual number of seats contested by the party will take into account Amanah's participation in a broader cooperation that is still under discussion.

The Election Commission (EC) has set Oct 31 as the nomination date for the Melaka state election, with early voting on Nov 10 and polling day on Nov 14, following the dissolution of the State Assembly on Sept 23.
