KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15): CelcomDigi Bhd (KL:CDB) said its wholly owned subsidiary, CelcomDigi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, has accepted a spectrum award from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) worth RM381.75 million to strengthen its mobile network.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the telecommunications company said the award covers 2x20MHz of spectrum in the 2600MHz band for four years and 2x5MHz in the 900MHz band for five years. CelcomDigi received the award notification on Oct 2 and paid the full amount on Oct 15.
MCMC opened applications for the spectrum on Aug 14, 2026.
In a separate statement, CelcomDigi said the award strengthens its spectrum portfolio across high, mid and low bands, improving CelcomDigi’s network capacity, service quality and cost efficiency.
The assignment gives CelcomDigi a continuous 2x40MHz spectrum block in the 2600MHz band and strengthens its 900MHz spectrum holdings to improve coverage across Malaysia.
The spectrum assignments are not yet finalised and remain subject to regulatory approval and the fulfilment of all required conditions.
CelcomDigi funded the spectrum award using internal funds and existing financing facilities.
CelcomDigi shares closed six sen, or 2.39%, higher at RM2.57 on Thursday, valuing the company at RM30.15 billion.
