KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15): Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has signed a memorandum of collaboration with NCT World Sdn Bhd to establish the NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP) as a key base for Selangor’s robotics manufacturing ecosystem.

In a statement Thursday, NCT said the collaboration will see NSIP provide industrial facilities for local and international robotics and automation companies to establish, assemble and scale their operations in Malaysia, while Sidec facilitates introductions to manufacturers, investors and technology providers.

NCT World is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCT Alliance Bhd (KL:NCT). Under the agreement, it will offer flexible factory arrangements at NSIP, including outright purchase, rent-before-purchase options and factory facilities on lease to help manufacturers reduce set-up time and initial costs.

Spanning 910 acres, NSIP will be developed in six phases with a gross development value of RM10.2 billion.

The partnership will also support Malaysia-China Robotics Day, planned for January 2027, which is expected to bring together 15 robotics and automation companies — 10 from China and five from Malaysia — to showcase technologies and explore investment opportunities. The parties intend to establish a permanent robotics exhibition hub at NSIP following the event.

TCab Tech (M) Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian arm of China-based electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developer TCab Tech, is expected to display its five-seat E20 tilt-rotor aircraft at the park by November 2026. It is also in discussions to establish an operational base there, alongside Malaysian industrial robotics manufacturer DF Automation & Robotics Sdn Bhd.

The initiative will complement Sidec’s existing semiconductor ecosystem, anchored by the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park 1 and 2 in Puchong and Cyberjaya, as well as the Advanced Semiconductor Academy Malaysia. MRANTI Park is planned as another ecosystem base, while NSIP will focus on assembly and manufacturing.

NCT executive chairman and group managing director Datuk Seri Yap Ngan Choy said in the statement the collaboration would provide manufacturers with the infrastructure and flexibility to establish and expand their operations in Selangor.

Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said the initiative aims to attract local and international companies, while creating opportunities for technology collaboration, investment and industry development.

Separately, NCT is a limited partner in the RM100 million Ehsan Semiconductor Fund, co-founded by Sidec, which invests in semiconductor technologies and related industries, including robotics and autonomous systems.
