PUTRAJAYA (Oct 14): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Wednesday summoned Datuk Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Husin, his wife and an aide to its headquarters here to assist in an investigation into alleged misappropriation and abuse of position involving an investment deal worth about RM10 million.
The commission, in a statement, said the former Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) chairman was summoned to receive a notice requiring him to declare his assets under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009, while his wife and the aide were summoned to have their statements recorded.
Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said Nazir Hussin refused to accept the notice, citing an injunction application he had filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday to stop enforcement of the directive issued under Section 36 of the Act.
He said the recording of statements from Nazir's wife and aide lasted one hour and 30 minutes.
“He (Nazir Hussin), his wife and his aide arrived at the MACC at about 11am, while his wife and aide were released at 1.15pm,” he said.
