KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Taiwan-listed Liton Technology Corp, a manufacturer of materials used in aluminium electrolytic capacitors, plans to invest RM115.58 million to set up a manufacturing facility in Malaysia.

The company’s board approved the investment on Oct 13, according to a filing with Taiwan’s Market Observation Post System. The investment is expected to be undertaken in 2026 and 2027, funded through internal and external financing.

The move was driven by customer requirements and its international expansion strategy, Liton said.

Liton specialises in manufacturing etched and formed aluminium foils, which are the primary raw materials used to build aluminium electrolytic capacitors.

Its products are widely used in sectors including artificial intelligence and cloud computing, automotive electronics and electric vehicles, green energy and power infrastructure.

The Malaysian facility would provide Liton with an additional production base as customers seek manufacturing locations outside China and Taiwan amid geopolitical uncertainties, while also helping the company address higher export costs associated with aluminium foil produced in China, according to Taiwanese media reports.

Liton has selected a site for the Malaysian facility and expects to acquire the land by the end of this year, with completion targeted for 2028. Production lines will be added progressively in response to market demand upon the completion of the facility, the report added.
