KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2026, to be held here next week, will serve as a strategic platform to help Malaysia prepare for a transport transformation through emerging technologies, stronger strategic partnerships and the exchange of ideas.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the expo, from Oct 20 to 22 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), is also an important platform for shaping the future of Malaysia's transport.

“From autonomous mobility and electric vehicles to next-generation logistics, we must not only keep pace with global developments but also ensure Malaysia is ready to embrace this transformation with confidence, innovation and sustainability,” he said in a Transport Ministry statement on Tuesday.

The ministry said the event would bring together local and international industry players, experts and stakeholders, with more than 150 speakers, over 60 forum sessions and a multi-sector exhibition focusing on the future of mobility, transport digitalisation, decarbonisation, road safety and regional connectivity.

It will also feature the Asean Transport Connectivity Forum on Oct 21, which will examine cargo competitiveness, multimodal integration, AI and digital trade facilitation.

The expo will cover major rail developments, including the Trans Borneo Railway, East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and RTS Link, alongside rail operational digitalisation and strategic partnerships through the exchange of memoranda of understanding (MOUs).

The final day will focus on integrated public transport, autonomous vehicle safety, smart infrastructure and stronger rail freight connectivity to support more efficient logistics networks.

The ministry said the exhibition would feature indoor and outdoor demonstrations of emerging transport technologies, including electric vehicles, autonomous driving, AI-powered applications, vehicle crash simulations and automatic emergency braking systems for motorcycles.

There will be logistics and light electric vehicle demonstrations as well, offering first-hand exposure to solutions that can improve safety, efficiency and sustainability in the movement of people and goods.

The programme begins on Oct 19 with the Road Safety Congress 2026 and three workshops organised by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Activities that day will focus on road safety, ground operations automation, digital identity and cargo data exchange.

Loke will officiate the opening on Oct 20, followed by exhibitions and concurrent sessions covering transport strategy, the aviation and maritime sectors, land transport and road safety.

Other key topics include energy transition, future-ready transport workforce development, transit-oriented development, maritime law reform and efforts to strengthen Malaysia's position as a regional bunkering hub.

The TXA Awards and Gala Dinner will be held at a leading hotel here to recognise excellence, innovation and achievements across the transport sector.

The exhibition will be held at Halls 2 and 3, Level 1, Mitec, from 10am to 6pm on Oct 20 and 21, and from 10am to 5.30pm on Oct 22. Further information is available at www.txa.my.
